Getting Started

Ready to get started? Here are the phases to creating this 3-6 minute documentary of you and your studio practice and getting onto the web. And relax, I've done literally thousands of productions, and this way works.

1. Planning

We'll plan the video by phone, including what, if anything, you'll say, what you want to show, and who else, if anyone, will appear.

You'll give me digital files/'slides' of the work you want included, along with the text of the captions. That could include Title, Year, Dimensions, Medium, etc.

2. The Shoot

A broadcast-quality, two-hour shoot at your studio, in High Definition video and audio. If your studio is outside Chicagoland, we'll make travel arrangements.
The shoot includes:

  • The Artist at work
  • Interview with the Artist
  • Views of the studio setting
  • Comments from a writer/theorist/colleague

3. Editing

Up to eight hours of editing, incorporating the video, your digital 'slides' of your work, and music.

4. Encoding, Uploading, Distribution

Encoding will optimize it for the web, and for the specific venue. I'll upload it within ten days to the online locations of your choice. Examples might incude:

  • YouTube
  • Vimeo
  • Facebook
  • Your Professional Artist's site, e.g, Other People's Pixels sites and tumblr.
